Jocelyn Baribeau

Jocelyn Baribeau

Genre: chanteur-compositeur-interprète, Contemporary Folk, Singer/Songwriter

RECENTLY NAMED FRANCOPHONE ARTIST OF THE YEAR AT THE WESTERN CANADIAN MUSIC AWARDS, Jocelyne Baribeau is nominated at the COUNTRY GALA in Québec this coming november for female artist of the year along with a nomination for the SOCAN Song of the Year for her single FRANÇOIS.

Bold yet vulnerable, as if wearing nothing but a pair of rubber boots and a mischievous smile, Jocelyne Baribeau presents her songs as a true reflection of herself, a veritable cocktail of sugar and salt. Slices of life, of her joys and excesses, of her moments of sadness, reflection and misfortune, in them one discovers a musical universe that is both charming and off-beat.
With the purest of vocals, Jocelyne carries us away with her sparkling ditties and tender ballads, in a subtle blend of folk and pop-country. Her onstage presence is dynamic and inspiring while remaining genuine, intimate and moving. She shares her often personal writings with honesty and maturity, inevitably followed by a knowing wink.
Her first EP, Petits papiers, garnered a nomination at the Western Canadian Music Awards in the Francophone Recording of the Year category.
Since then, the accolades haven’t stopped with the FOLKFEST Award at Découvertes manitobaines, as well as showcases at Festival du Voyageur (Rame à la rencontre), at JunoFest’s Scène manitobaine and at the Breakout West Festival. Part of the Coup de cœur francophone 2013, her double-bill with Franco-Ontarian Stef Paquette rounds out the growing list of accomplishments for this bright and hardworking artist.

Her newest album, Entre toi et moi, will be available in April 2015.
