The Hiebert Family

The Hieberts are three siblings who play a diverse range of music including their own compositions, traditional fiddle music, and classical music so that they can bring joy and warmth to the hearts of their listeners. Audiences will be treated to new tunes written in the fiddle tradition, as well as old fiddle tunes with a new twist!

The Hiebert siblings are three of Manitoba’s most accomplished young musicians, at home in both the classical music and fiddle worlds. Malacai, who plays violin and is the oldest of the three, was the recipient of the People’s Choice Award at the 2019 Manitoba Old Time Fiddle Competition in the Open category. Jonah, who plays both banjo and cello, won the grade 9 Trophy Class at the 2019 Winnipeg Music Festival. Shiloh, who plays violin, was featured as a Junior Showcase Artist for this year’s on-line celebration of Canadian Fiddle music. Collectively the Hiebert siblings were featured performers in the 2019 hit musical “Strike!” at Rainbow Stage. They were also part of the house band, as well as featured performers, for the opening night of the 2019 Crankie Festival. Malacai, Jonah, and Shiloh are excited to be a part of the online Crankie Festival for 2021.
