The north sound

Hailing from Saskatoon, The North Sound comprises the husband-and-wife duo of Forrest Eaglespeaker, a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, and Nevada Eaglespeaker, a composer and harmonizing vocalist. Drawing inspiration from renowned storytellers like Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, their music skillfully blends modern production techniques with storytelling finesse, sharing tales of Forrest’s Blackfoot identity and traditions from Treaty 7 Territory.

With an unfiltered approach to songwriting, Forrest’s lyrics explore haunting metaphors, encapsulating the spectrum from everyday experiences to personal realities. The band strikes a harmonious balance between contemporary production methods and the narrative essence inspired by iconic storytellers.

Their accolades include winning Sask Music’s Indigenous Artist of the Year award in 2020 and 2021. Additionally, they’ve received three nominations from the Saskatchewan Country Music Association (SCMA) in categories such as Group of the Year, Roots Album of the Year, and their song “Heavy Heart” is nominated for Producer of the Year.
