We’re looking for communities across Canada to become Home Routes hosts
(Previous experience is not necessary!)
Home Routes communities are composed of music lovers who are both warm and adventurous when it comes to hosting and listening to all types of music.
Home Routes is looking for community hosts who have the ability to provide a concert space and lodging accommodations for touring artists. The ideal concert space can comfortably hold at least 40 people and be able to present 6 shows throughout the season. Host communities provide touring artists with lodging and accommodations during their stay in your community.
The host’s role boils down to a few things: organizing, presenting, and accommodating. Hosts work with Home Routes to organize shows within their community, selling tickets and promoting the shows. This includes playing an active role in presenting the concert on show night.
“”The benefits are numerous with no downside. Musicians benefit financially and professionally, audiences are exposed to a variety of music and musicians, the concerts are affordable and they build goodwill and better friendships in the community and throughout Canada. I have had the honour of hosting musicians from all parts of Canada and have gained a new appreciation of this great country through their songs and tales. Home Routes promotes Canadian music and makes live music more accessible to more of us. I wholeheartedly support this initiative and hope to see its reach expanded in years to come.”
– Linda, Home Routes Presenter

Why Become a
Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous
Host?
Discover New Music
If you like discovering new music, Home Routes / Chemin Chez Nous artists span a wide range of folk music genres and styles from around the globe.
Foster Community Fellowship
Home Routes shows are welcoming gatherings that are family-friendly and appropriate for all ages, and promise new musical experiences! Invite friends, neighbours, work colleagues, and the general public to attend, or volunteer.
Build Partnerships
Home Routes shows attract people who care about their community, and want to see it develop. The more local stakeholders are involved in each event, the more successful they will be. We work with hosts to find sponsors seeking to support artists’ performances in schools and retirement homes.
Concert Skill Sharing
By partnering with us, community hosts will have a dedicated team of volunteers and will learn the skills required to promote a public concert. This provides community members an opportunity to learn and apply new skills with a range of applications to the benefit of their community and volunteers.
Host The Artists
Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous artists stay and eat with the hosts, saving them hotel and meal costs. This has been one of the most important aspects of hosting for Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous. It’s an opportunity to meet and host some of our most creative Canadians, and a way for you to create lasting memories for yourself, your friends and family, and for the artists passing through.
Join us in bringing live folk music concerts to communities across Canada
